Facebook's own three-dot menu only offers a download option on some posts — typically your own uploads — so on most videos it simply is not there. Copying the link and pasting it into FB DownS works regardless of whether that menu item appears.

There is no extra step: FB DownS never adds a watermark, so your file is clean by default. If the creator burned their own handle, caption or sticker into the video before uploading, that stays part of the picture — no honest tool can strip it without altering someone else's work.

Almost always the link is the problem: make sure it points at the post itself, not a profile, a search result or a login page. Deleted, expired, region-blocked and privately restricted posts cannot be fetched at all. Copy a fresh link from the Share menu and try once more.

Saving public posts for your own offline use — especially your own content — is generally fine. What matters is what you do next: re-uploading, editing or monetising someone else's video or photo without their permission is a copyright issue, and downloading it does not transfer any rights to you.
